Psychology
The
Department of Psychology started in 2007. The first program offered at the
Master’s level, (MSc) 2-years (4 semesters) in August 2007 for which nearly 15
students were registered. After 6 months the department offered a Bachelor's in
Psychology BS (Hons), 4-years (8 semesters) program for which nearly 6 students
were registered. With the keen interest of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Syed
Sakhawat Shah, Dean of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Saeed Anwer and Dr. Farhana
Kazmi Chairperson Department of Psychology initiated the MPhil program in 2008
with 5 students, which gradually increased in subsequent semesters to 12
students.
The Department of Psychology started the PhD Psychology Program in 2012, and
produced the first PhD scholar in 2017 under the supervision of Prof. Dr.
Farhana Kazmi.

The Department of Psychology envisions fostering a comprehensive understanding of human behavior within biological, psychological, social, and cultural contexts through education and research. Our program is dedicated to cultivating ethical and pragmatic Behavioral Scientists who effectively address the diverse needs of individuals and Pakistani society.

Message from the Head of Department
It gives me great pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all students, faculty, researchers, and visitors to the Department of Psychology. Our department is committed to fostering academic excellence, scientific research, and community service through the discipline of psychology. The department has successfully organized three international conferences in collabation of HEC and number of workshops on Mental Health and related issues. The Department has signed MOUs with organizations including Dadar General and Mental Hospital Mansehra, Irfan Neuropsychiatry Center Mansehra, Social Welfare Department Mansehra and Sehat Kahani.
In the quickly evolving world of today, psychological knowledge and practice are becoming more and more important in tackling societal, personal, and global issues. Our department works to create an engaging learning environment where students can acquire theoretical knowledge as well as practical skills, critical thinking, while using the emerging technologies necessary for both career advancement and significant societal contributions.
Our academic members are dedicated to mentoring students and advancing innovative research in a variety of areas, from mental health and well-being to applied psychology and social development. We place a high priority on outreach, ensuring that our expertise not only advances scholarly learning but also greatly helps the broader community.

Pursuant to the directives of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, an Online Khuli Kachehri (open court) session was held at the Conference Room of the Vice Chancellor's Secretariat under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Ikramullah Khan, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Hazara University. During the session, student queries and issues were discussed, with on-spot directives issued to concerned officials for priority resolution.
Vice Chancellor Agriculture University Applauds Hazara Universal Solutions as a Model for University-Led Enterprise
Prof. Dr. Sar Zameen Khan, Vice Chancellor of Agriculture University, visited Hazara University and held an interactive session with the Board of Directors and management of Hazara Universal Solutions Private Limited. The visiting Vice Chancellor appreciated the university's initiatives for alternative revenue generation, expressed interest in collaboration, and received a detailed briefing on company registration formalities from the Company Secretary.
